(Cambodian Secondary Science Experiment Videos)
The purpose of this website is to encourage Cambodian secondary Science teachers to use practical experimentation with students whenever possible. Videos are highlighted showing experiments from the Cambodian secondary curriculum textbooks and VSO experiment book. The experiments use materials that are available in Cambodia and can be done using easily purchasable equipment or recycled materials.

This site is an ongoing work in progress as more videos are added on a regular basis. Please contact us if you have a specific lesson that you would like to see a video on and we will see if it is feasible to create one and upload it.
how easy/difficult is it to do the experiment?
Information on how easy it is to do each experiment – available for each experimental video. Based on 4 categories recommended by Cambodian teachers – (1) Resources, (2) Time to set up, (3) Time to implement and (4) Difficulty
Resources:
Everyday/Everyday and Specialist/Mainly Specialist
(Everyday meaning things that could be expected to be accessible in rural areas, from the market etc. / Specialist would mean *any* item that would be purchased specifically for science - e.g. a test tube, tongs)
-
Collecting equipment – some notes on what might be needed to be collected from outside of school labs
Time to set up:
-
Preparing chemicals
-
Putting out equipment
Time to implement:
-
This is written as an estimate of time to do the experiment on the video/sheet
Difficulty:
very easy / easy / medium / hard / very hard
Examples
-
very easy = melting ice
-
easy = use of indicator paper for testing acids/bases
-
medium = creating an element - chlorine (it's a bit fiddly, it needs to be tested beforehand, teacher needs to know the expected result clearly)
-
hard = calculation of heat quantities (Q = mCdeltaT)
-
very hard = fractional distillation
